Confirmation Dialogue Sermon

Abbey:

Have you ever been so reluctant to do something that even the thought of it upset you? If so, then you know what it felt like for me when I found out I was going to have to attend Confirmation class every Sunday night. What a waste of time that was going to be! As the day approached, I began feeling more and more vexed about that first Sunday night. It seemed so pointless. It was just going to be a waste of time, and hey, I was going to miss "The Simpsons!"

Mickey:

During the first half of the year, I began to see what the class was really about, learning about the history and beliefs and origins of the church. Learning how to see and interpret the Bible into our everyday lives. Giving us a lot of information in order to formulate our own faith beliefs.

Mickey:

During the second half of the class, I started to see class as fun, informative and interesting. It wasn't really work in the first place; like school, in that it was good to have a break, but after a long time, you wanted to go. i really felt comfortable with all the people in the class and the teachers. it was fun talking with Dean about Bible passages at a few of our confirmand/sponsor events. I would like to thank Ruth, Jim, Joey, and Dean for all of their help this year.

Abbey:

Now, after giving this a lot of thought and consideration, I feel intrigued to learn more. I have learned so much over the past year, and I realize that this is just the beginning. Since that first day we planned this service, I have been really excited (I, for one, was really excited to get a new dress), but moreover, I was excited to finally become a member of the church, and have say in church dealings. There is so much more to learn, and I want to learn all of it, but that can never happen. There will always be new interpretations of Bible scriptures and deeper meanings to try to figure out and apply to life.
