Audiovisual Committee ... Chair, Bud Dennie ...

This committee's primary responsibilities are voice amplification and recording of the Sunday morning worship services, memorial services and weddings. Members also set up microphones in the McClellan Social Hall and in the Living Room when requested. Upon reasonable notice, the committee is responsible for projection of visuals (films and slides) for church groups. On-the-job training is provided.

Building and Grounds Committee... Chair, Christopher Lewis ...

The Building and Grounds Committee advises the Board of Trustees on the maintenance of the existing church building and other church properties (except the Retreat House). This includes alterations, furnishings, decorating, planting and landscape development. This committee is not responsible for the major remodeling of the Church. The committee also provides advice and assistance to the Property Administrator, and sponsors Fix-Up, Clean-Up Days in the spring and fall. Both large and small amounts of time, energy and skill are welcome.

Committee for the Arts ... Chair, Gail Withuhn ...

The Fine Arts Committee is composed of individuals interested in the creative and dramatic arts and how the arts relate to spiritual issues. Activities depend on the interests of the members but have included monthly art exhibits at the church, poetry readings and dramatic presentations.

Communication Committee ... Chair, Judy Cox...
Kitchen Committee ...
Library Committee ...

The Library Committee maintains the church library, and plans and catalogs additions to the collection. The library was closed, and its books dispersed in September 1999, due to space limitations. The committee hopes for restoration of the library and growth of the children’s library in the new church building.

Nominating Committee ...
Older Adult Committee
Personnel Committee ... Chair, Bud Dennie ...

The Personnel Committee meets the first Wednesday of every month. The duties include: documenting staff personnel files, revising, as needed, staff job descriptions, creating, distributing, compiling and administering staff evaluations, advising Trustees and Moderator of staff requests and offering suggestions for possible implementation. The Committee is composed of three members from the church at large, one representative from the Board of Trustees, the Board of Deacons and the Board of Christian Education; they report to the Moderator and the Executive Council.

Referral & Service Committee  ...

The Referral and Service Committee assists church members during times of special need by helping with food and transportation for medical and other appointments. It assists in organizing receptions for memorial services. Two committee members are designated each month to be on call for coordinating assistance.

Retreat House Committee ... Co-Chair, Cory Gray and Bruce Strand ...

The Retreat House Committee is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the house and the surrounding 65 acres of farmland and woods near Yellow Springs, West Virginia, affectionately known as "The Retreat House." For over 30 years, the pre-Civil War house has been used for a variety of retreats, summer camps and family getaways from Easter to Thanksgiving. The committee schedules its use, joins in opening and closing retreats to do routine maintenance and undertakes special projects, as needed. Play is intermingled with work (not to mention eating).

Ruth Richardson Scholarship Committee Chair, Aldene Ault ...
Sanctuary Committee ... Chair, Joanne Holcroft ...

The Sanctuary Committee decorates the church for worship and special occasions. It oversees the provision of memorial flowers on the altar during worship and other special services. Several times a year the committee meets to clean and refurbish equipment and to present programs on the art of floral arranging.

Special Gifts Committee ... Chair, Vacant ...

For the past several years, the Special Gifts Committee develops procedures for and manages concerns governing the receipt of large and memorial gifts to CCC. The committee votes on all memorial gift expenditure requests and advises the Board of Trustees of such requests along with the recommended action. Additionally, Special Gifts has recently taken on the task of tracking both the receipt and expenditure of memorial gifts, notifying interested parties and family members as to the accounting of these bequests, trusts, and special funds.

Technology Committee Chair, Bud Dennie
Ushers Committee ...

The Ushers prepare the sanctuary for worship, welcome and seat worshippers, distribute bulletins and assist in the Order of Worship. Ushering is a relatively small commitment of time, yet it’s an important contribution to the service. We are always looking for new people to lend a friendly smile!
