Alberding has been painting for about 25 years after
taking early retirement from the Federal Government. He
tried art classes and found that he enjoyed it and had a
talent for it. Conrad took art classes at Montgomery
College and has done work in several different mediums:
acrylic, oils, sculpture, and watercolors. His favorite
medium is watercolors as shown in this exhibit of his
paintings. During the winter in Florida he participates
weekly in a painting group. Mr Alberding especially loves to do watercolors of nature. The sea with its grasses, sand, and water are a favorite subject. Many of the pictures in the show were done in Florida where he visits in the winter. However, the large painting with the cubist style is of a Montgomery County School before it was demolished. |
Conrad is a first
generation American. His father immigrated to the
Washington DC area from Holland. His wife, Betty, is also
a native Washingtonian. They have been married 57 years.
They have 2 children, 2 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. The Alberdings have lived in the Four Corners Area since 1956. They are parishioners of St. Bernadettes. Mr Alberding worked for the Federal Government as a procurement officer. For a period of time he did volunteer work at the Corcoran Gallery of Art where he helped mount exhibits. Over the years he has also volunteered at Holy Cross Hospital and Providence Hospital and helped his wife with Meals on Wheels. |

Conrad is offering some of the paintings in this exhibit for sale. There is a list of prices in the office. However, some of his favorite pieces are Not For Sale. Mr Alberding proudly presents these works of art for your enjoyment. Some of them have won prizes at local art shows. He has, also, been juried into the annual Art Show at Brookside Gardens but will not be showing this year due to his wifes health. |
