CCC NewsNotes June 24, 2002 CCC Seeks Volunteers For Shepherd's Table, Focus On Students: From the CMMC Newsletter, CCC & Child Care Center Want To Get Moving, Have Time For Kids?, Flower Calendar, Chrismon Workshop Coming Later This Year, News Notes Deadlines, CCC Staff CCC Seeks Volunteers For Shepherd's Table The Board for Social Witness needs CCC volunteers to help at Shepherd's Table on Wed., July 10 and Wednesday, Aug. 14. Volunteer shifts begin at 4:30 p.m. for set-up, 5:30 p.m. for servers and 6:30 p.m. to clean-up. To volunteer, please use the sign-up sheet located on the church bulletin board, or you may contact Gegg Brown at (301) 589-1080. Shepherd's Table is located at Progress Place in Silver Spring off George and Silver Spring Avenues (www.shepherdstable.org). We look forward to seeing you this July and/or August at Shepherd's Table! Board for Social Witness From the CMMC Newsletter Community Ministry of Montgomery County is certified by the public schools for Student Service Learning Credit. We provide a very rewarding and enjoyable volunteer experience sorting and displaying clothing and working with small children. Come to one of our two sites: Upcounty Interfaith Clothing Center, 620 E. Diamond Ave., Suite M, Gaithersburg, and Interfaith Clothing Center, 751 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville. Community Ministry's interfaith clothing centers seek congregations and others to collect school supplies. They will be distributed to children from low-income families prior to the opening of school in late August. We need backpacks and the supplies that go with them. CCC & Child Care Center Want To Get Moving Volunteers are needed Sat., June 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to help with removing CCC's temporarily stored furnishings from 620 Pershing Dr. This is basically our last chance before the end of June. You do not need to sign up -- just come! Randy Caswell, Building & Grounds Committee The Silver Spring Child Care Center will be moving to CCC in July. Volunteers are needed in June and early July to be with the children while teachers pack up for the move and to help with the move itself. Contact Connie Iacomini at (301) 589-1593. Summer church school teachers and caregivers are needed. Please call Kristen Brown at (301) 460-1806 if you can help teach our children one Sunday this summer. The 2002 flower calendar now has a permanent place just outside the office door. Please note that there are several dates in July still open for gifts of memorial flowers. Chrismon Workshop Coming Later This Year The Board for Church Life will sponsor a Chrismon workshop later this year, the first one since 1995. Chrismons are Christmas ornaments which are Christian symbols and monograms. There will be a variety of styles, from the very simple "glue and glitter" symbols to the very complicated weave of the beaded or pearl crown.
